Fitzbillies COVID-19 Statement
For a hundred years Fitzbillies, Cambridge’s favourite bakery and café has kept batting on, through war, rationing, depression, fire, boom, bust and bankruptcy…
so we’re going to do our level best to keep going through COVID-19.
Fitzbillies Trumpington Street - 1949
What we are doing to ensure your safety
We’ve always prided ourselves on keeping the old place spankingly clean - but now we’re making a few changes in accordance with public health advice.
As a start, we’ve temporarily removed some tables in the cafés to create more safe space between customers, we’re obsessively sanitising contact points like door handles and surfaces and we’ve instituted an even more ferocious hand-washing regime for the staff.
We’re going to keep serving great food, coffee, cakes and bread for as long as we can, and if we’re told to shut our dining rooms, we plan to go back to our roots and continue operating as a retail bakery and takeaway.
Over at the bakery we’ll keep turning out even more of our fantastic bread so there will be plenty to go round for our wholesale and retail customers.
Everything feels a bit uncertain for all of us at the moment, but the team here at Fitzbillies are committed to doing the best for our customers, staff and community for as long as we can.
Please continue to visit us if you’re comfortable doing so. Independents like us need your continued support and we can promise you a warm and grateful welcome (at an approved and appropriate distance).
