Job Outline

A member of the senior team running Fitzbillies Bridge Street alongside Operations Manager and Head Chef, reporting to the Operations Manager of Fitzbillies Group. Responsible for day-to-day efficient running of our branch. Setting standards for customer experience and building a solid & dependable team. Overseeing the health & safety, food safety and other standards of the branch.

What you will do

· Running shifts, setting standards and the tone of service that is consistent across all shifts and every day.

· Improving the flow of service and increasing speed, quality & consistency of service.

· Develop a proactive approach to recruiting, developing, and retaining key staff.

· Having an organised approach to HR – inductions for new team members, probation reviews, training reviews & performance management.

· Improving our margins by cooperating with the Head Chef & Operations Manager on wastage tracking, stock control and effective ordering.

· Reviewing and managing forecasts & budgets set by the Operations Manager

· Maintaining a financial overview of the branch's performance.

· Being the branch expert on Health & Safety, Food Safety and other relevant legislation and guidance

· Tackle problems before they escalate

• Minimum of 3 years in a fast-paced restaurant management experience

The original Fitzbillies is located at Trumpington Street where we have a 90-seat café and 20-seat coffee shop, and we also have two bakery coffee shops at Bridge Street and King's Parade.

We are seeking outstanding Front of House staff members to greet and serve customers, provide exceptional customer service and ensure the café meets company standards. This is a full-time position. Our Front of House staff members should be capable of welcoming customers and greeting them with enthusiasm, serving food and drinks with care, washing dishes and cleaning the premises with attention to detail whilst following instructions from the management team.

You should have good communication skills and an outgoing/lively personality. You will be reliable and a good team player. We provide ample room for personal growth and professional development and encourage our employees to do so.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Take and complete orders.
• Answer customers' questions about the menu and make recommendations based on their preferences
• Assist with drink orders.
• Complete cleaning tasks
• Follow food safety guidelines to ensure the safety of our customers.

Ideal candidates will have at least one year’s experience in a fast-paced restaurant environment and high-end customer service, but this is not essential as all training will be provided.

We're looking for a Speciality Barista to join our team. The right candidate will be responsible for serving our customers with a positive and engaging attitude. Our baristas are responsible for preparing high-quality coffee and other hot drinks whilst maintaining a clean, professional atmosphere in the cafe. We're looking for an individual who can multitask effectively, work well as part of a team, and show genuine enthusiasm for our products.

Responsibilities will include:

• Provide consistent, high-quality customer service.

• Clean and maintain the coffee machine and equipment.
• Keep the area around the café clean and tidy.

Background on Fitzbillies

Fitzbillies is a 100 year old artisan bakery in central Cambridge. We make a huge range of baked goods: the Chelsea buns we’re most famous for; sourdough and yeasted breads, viennoisserie, celebration cakes, brownies and macarons. These are sold through our own shop and cafés, our wholesale business supplying local farm shops, restaurants and Cambridge colleges, and online. Our business has grown hugely over the past 10 years as we’ve combined the best of Fitzbillies traditions with modern artisan baking. We’re equally popular with our very discerning local customers and with visitors to Cambridge.


Job Outline:

This role is for a baker to join the team at our bakery unit on Clifton Road, Cambridge. Ideally we are looking for someone with experience in sourdough bread and yeasted baking, with good hand shaping skills.

Hand-baked artisan bread and cakes, made with care and attention to detail.
